Composites

To invent is not so much to have a new idea but to give up on old idea.

Production facilities

Housed in a 5800 sq.m workshop, toutenkamion has brought together all equipment and tools needed to make and assemble large size composite parts.

Two semi-automatic resin spray machines with a working area of 3m5 x 18 m each, 2 resin injection machines, as NC fibre reinforcement knitting machine and a machining centre, working area 3m x 15m x 0.2 m all combine in assembling the puzzle of hundreds of individual elements in the manufacture of the most complex composite parts.

Techniques

As early as 1966, toutenkamion was pioneering hand lay-up and vacuum moulding of large GFRP parts.

We have developped a unique method for one-shot moulding of structural sandwich panels up to 3.3m x 15m requiring no additional steel framing or reinforcing.

Panels are bonded together to ensure stiffness and sealing of our trucks bodies. The combination of these advantages leads to high thermal and acoustical performance combined with a minimum weight.

Since 1966, we have continuously improved our know-how through the incorporation of new skills...

The dedicated composites workshop has the following equipment :

  • Machining centre with 15m x 3.3m x 0.2m working capacity,
  • PU injection machines,
  • Semi-automatic gel coating machine,
  • Semi-automatic spray-up machine,
  • Semi-automatic polyurethane adhesive spraying machine,
  • Overhead cranes each fitted with 2 x 2 ton winches that cover 5, 0000 sqm working area,
  • Moulding tables 15m x 3.30m and 13 m x 2.70m,
  • Horizontal saw for preparing PU core sheets from 1.5m x 3m x 1.2m stock,
  • Vertical panel saws,
  • Saw for preparing glass fibre reinforcements,
  • ...
